No, a "Beare doesn't go in the woods "..😅
We have been on quite a journey over the years. The main head-scratcher was the facilities. You see, in the beginning, we did not know if people would even come to stay and then when they did, by the 100's each year, The question was...
"How could we service their needs without Taking out a small mortgage?"
So in the humble uncertain beginnings, we set out with an 'eco' themed approach. This worked well for us to start with. Guests enjoyed hot showers, basic but functional compost toilets and an undercover pot wash area.
The only downside to this, well for ADAM really, was the transfer and management of the compost waste..😷😅🤣 But we figured it out and it served us well for our first two seasons.
As the seasons went on we realized that the Campsite seemed to be really attractive to folk, so it was time for a change. So in 2019, with a somewhat mad planning dash and securing finance, we took the plunge into something a little more appealing to most campers... Who knew that some campers didn't like to go for a number '2' sat on a wooden box??🤣
Meaning that we would be late opening and miss 2 months of trade, A planning deadline that caused ADAM some hair loss and few more wrinkles, He set to work.
Re-opening in May of that year,2019, we had completed the first stage of the facility re-build. Flushing toilets, twice as many as before. Hot, reliable showers, twice as many as before and a functional pot wash. The initial works were done and we could open! Yes, we had done it!! 👍
"But That's Not Where wE were StOpPinG..."
So for the 2020 Season, things look a little different again.
Our sturdy metal boxed facilities have been transformed into a wooden 'cabin-style' facilities. Clad with timber, dry entrances and the 'quirky' Beare's Den extras around most corners will also see the addition of a 'Proper Job' Kitchen with sinks, worktop space, freezer, hot water, charge points and Lighting. All undercover for your 'all-weather enjoyment of washing up'...🙌 👍🐻
